LSU SG takes steps towards transparency with new financial dashboard

Raby builds Student Government's Financial Dashboard, a live, public view of how every dollar of student fees is spent.
Read the full story at The ReveilleAs chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, Raby noticed Student Government had no way to track what it spent. "Why do we not have something that shows live updates whenever we spend money, the state of all of our accounts?" he asked. Then he built it.
The Financial Dashboard, released on the SG website in November 2023, breaks spending into categories and updates automatically as money moves, so any student can see where their fees go. It came weeks after a Reveille investigation into Student Government's transparency. "We're definitely not where we should be," Raby said. "But, if you look at the last two years, we've come a long way toward being a transparent, accountable and productive Senate body."
His aim was bigger than one campus: to "set the precedent in the SEC that student governments need to be transparent."
