Each spring, LSU names its Tiger Twelve: the 12 graduating seniors who have contributed most to the life of the campus, the surrounding community and society, with a record of academic achievement, leadership and service. The honor has been given since 2003. Raby, a mechanical engineering major with minors in aerospace engineering and economics, in the College of Engineering and the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College, was named to the Class of 2024.

Asked by LSU how the university had helped him succeed, and what came next, he said:

“I have enjoyed getting involved with the many opportunities this large campus provides, from serving our student body in LSU Student Government to reviving LSU Silver Wings to my work with the Cadets of the Ole War School and as a Residential Assistant to ODK, RHA, ASME, SPM, BYX, Bengal Bots, Tiger Brawlers, developing AI systems, and many others not listed here.”

Future plans:

“After graduation, I will move to Washington, D.C., to work with House of Representatives committees focused on creating and hearing AI, data, and legislation on innovative emerging technologies. After this, my next step may be with NASA, the U.S. Space Force, or the private sector, where I plan to use what I have learned at LSU to build a better world for us and those who follow.”

On accepting the award, Raby gave a speech titled "A bias towards action: a call to our generation of leadership." He shared the video afterward, thanking everyone "who has helped turn ideas for community service into impactful successes."

That summer he joined the U.S. House as one of its first AI specialists.

Atop each hill, what becomes easier to see is the steeper, taller mountain ahead, whose climb shall lead to our destiny. From Raby's announcement on Instagram, May 13, 2024.
