In May 2019, the month he graduated from University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge, Colin Raby went to work as a legislative page in the Louisiana House of Representatives at the State Capitol. He applied for the 2019 Regular Session on the recommendation of Rep. Greg Miller and was ready to start on May 22, in the last and busiest weeks before the session adjourned on June 6.From his page application to the House's Office of Human Resources, dated May 21, 2019. The session had opened on April 8, as WAFB reported.

Pages keep the chamber running behind the scenes. Raby handled a steady stream of requests from representatives, and within a few weeks he was picked to help the upper levels of the House with some of the Speaker's responsibilities. As he described the job on his résumé. Taylor Barras was Speaker of the House.

Before the session ended he was back on the House floor in a different role. On June 2 the House adopted House Resolution No. 264, commending him as the American Legion's Eagle Scout of the Year for Louisiana. "To be on both sides of the chamber (as first a Page and then a recipient of a personal privilege recognition) was an exceptional experience," he wrote.

He worked as a page into July, then started at LSU that fall. Two years later he was back in state government as a Louisiana Governor's Fellow, and in 2024 he went to work in another House, as one of the first AI specialists in the U.S. House of Representatives.
